As solar panels become more affordable, more and more of us will be using them, but they are not low tech. They are one of the glories of the Western culture you just criticized, with a lot of Asian know-how, too. The Israelis are also very technologically advanced, e.g., StarBand satellite internet by Gilat.
Solar panels and satellite internet would make places like Afghanistan far better off. Their children could use the Internet to learn, as mine do. Their doctors could consult by satellite with the finest medical centers in the world. It's going to happen, I think, and long before the Israelis leave Israel. |
