We can expect nothing but negatives on negotiated settlement

Over the next few months I believe that we will hear only how great the state attorney's general did in protecting the health of Americans and how badly they punished the tobacco industry. The attorney's general will be politicking like crazy to get the settlement through Congress, and in so doing will continue to spread rhetoric about the evils of the industry.

Conversely, I believe we will hear nothing from the viewpoint of the tobacco industry, which will need to maintain a very low profile, lest they are perceived to somehow benefit from this settlement (which I believe they will, through an expansion in their price to earnings multiple).

Given the above, it would not surprise me to see a continued sell-off in the short-term of MO. I welcome feedback to this scenario or alternate scenarios out there.
