Here's the way it was. Carter wasn't scoring any points with anyone. He was not inspiring, yet he was indecisive. However, if he'd been able to get the hostages released, that act may have turned the tide in his favor. Historically, the incumbent president wins. Had Carter won,it might have been "four bore years". We'll never know. I do believe Carter is an outstanding former president.
