"Cisco intends to back Alcatel's high-speed network access technology known as Asynchronus Digital Subscriber Line(ADSL) and to integrate and market Alcatel's ADSL modems, chips and products in its own systems." (from a Cisco news release today).

I've been away from the topic and SI for months. Could someone please tell me why Amati has been noticably missing from every single alliance/partnership/contract in town? Is it due to lack of products, inferior products or just inability of management to negotiate a deal. Also, what exactly happened to Copper Gold, I hear people on the street referring to it as 'copper smoke'. Is it coming, cancelled or what?
