The planes which struck the WTC and the Pentagon were incinerated and pulverized along with their contents, so if by "hard evidence" you mean hair, blood, fingerprints, it's not going to be there, probably ever. What they do have is plenty of circumstantial evidence, as well as descriptions by passengers who used their cell phones to call family members and law enforcement personnel, and surveillance videotapes from the airports.

For example - one stewardess aboard the first plane to strike the WTC called her boss on a cell phone, and described what was going on, including the seat numbers which the hijackers had been sitting in. As you know, when you fly, your ticket has on it your name and your seat number. Thus, those names are known.

The FBI has released photos of all the hijackers.
