Your theory does prove that Russia clearly had a motive in bringing America into their fight against the Taliban. After several years of cool relations between Irael and Russian officials, I noticed a high level meeting between Putin and Sharon just a few months ago. When we consider WHO GAINED FROM THE TERRORISM, Russia and Israel are at the top of the list. To a lesser degree, this would also include the Norther Alliance. Your theory of Masood assasination for escalting the low level terrorist operation into the WTC horror is fascinating and has some elements of probability.

Israel is still the chief beneficiary of this terror with Russia a distant third. For Israel, the WTC was a victory of great magnitude with geopolitical forces clearly turned into Israel's favor. For Russia, it is a minor victory since Afghanistan is simply a minor thorn in Russia's overall defense problems.
