"
Twenty-five years ago the "Boat People" began floating into the San Francisco Bay on inner tubes and rafts, figuratively speaking. They arrived with _nothing_ except a desire to better themselves and their families.
They lived 10 to a house, worked their butts off, opened businesses, lent their saved money to other relatives and friends who had just arrived from Vietnam, worked even harder, and pushed their children to excel at school.
I remember that within half a dozen years of their arrivals, the Valedictorians of Homestead High School, Gunn High School, and all the other Valley schools had names like "Truong Binh."
And at the same time, the adults who initially opened small shops and food stalls expanded and moved on to much more profitable businesses, owning land and starting computer companies.
From zero to sixty in five.
Meanwhile, a lazy and shiftless subgroup of the population discourages their children from learning ("Books are for whitey"). Young girls are turned into AFDC breeding animals at age 14. Young boys become crack dealers, pimps, and hustlers. The rest of them become preachers, teaching the evils of the white devil.
The outcome is inevitable. Immigrants from Ireland, China, Vietnam, India, Sweden, Italy, Poland, Nicaragua, Pakistan, and a dozen other countries have come to this country, worked hard, saved their money, opened small businesses, and generally prospered. Even immigrants from Mexico are learning the Protestant Work Ethic and are busting their hump to succeed, more or less.
They didn't need endless handouts from Massah in the White Plantation House, they didn't need endless excuses about why they were doomed to fail, and they knew with crystal clarity that the only way they and their children would succeed was if they JUST DID IT.
The negroes who wear their $250 Nike sneakers should take heed of that slogan.
None of this is politically correct, but it's the unvarnished truth.
