Ordinarily I would call such a bailout corporate welfare. But these are not normal times. This is a national emergency and the bailout amounts to a bridge loan. Having said that, it would be proper if the airlines could extend some of that bridge to employees who were laid off, rehiring them as the traffic dictates. However, the recovery of the airlines is not entirely up to the airlines either, but a matter of federal security measures and other issues related to public confidence.
