some of your best friends are...? Well, it seems that both sides of the aisle in Congress want time to think through the various aspects of the Administration's proposals for wider powers. Apparently there aren't many who would give up freedoms willy-nilly in the pursuit of security; this article is worth reading for that reason alone. I'd want to know a whole lot about the implications, immediate and downstream, of any curtailments of my rights, with rigid sunset clauses built in as well. Though the final words are "The buzzword on Capitol Hill is balance" they ought to be the lead, in my view. nytimes.com
