The 3 billion we spend with Israel is just the tip of the iceberg. There are transfers of money through non-profits, that are tax deductible to the American general fund, that comes out the pockets of the taxpayer's benefits also, there are indirect costs like what we are doing now to hunt down bin Laden, and there is pilfering of American technology from US corporations, military facilities, and research labs.
There may be other aid then the official aid but the official aid is a lot more then the tip of the iceberg.
Hunting down bin Laden is not aid to Israel. We are doing it for our own reasons.
Technology pilfering happens all over the place. Its hardly confined to or even mostly the result of the activities of Israeli citizens, companies, or government entities, and anyway it isn't aid.
But even if you want to multiply the official figure by 10 (which would be ridiculously high) it is far to low to bankrupt a $10tril economy.
