as well educated as you are you know that "preventive detention" has always been a very tricky area in this democracy because the Bill of Rights and the rule of law requires that a crime be in the planning stage (provable) or a conspiracy exists, or a crime committed in order for anyone to be detained against his/her will while the links are being established more fully. Abuse of this power is what concerns thinking people, whatever their politics. There will be careful consideration by cool heads when whatever legislation is crafted to meet this threat, so that we do not create a greater threat ourselves to our own society - which is one goal of the terrorists. I don't want the likes of bin Laden or Hussain or any other radical to cause my liberties to be abridged by his devious, murderous plotting - and when you think about it, neither will you. Dee Jay
