Hi Uncle Frank, I apologize if I was too philosophical or prosaic. I happen to be in that kind of mood. I get that way around my son's birthday. It is a special day.

My motive: I merely want to work on finding ways to not lose my shirt in the market. It isn't any more complex than that.

To the problem. An undesirable outcome begs the question "which of my beliefs lead me to choose actions that led me to this outcome", and "what will I do differently next time as a result of what I have learned".

Which requires an unbiased and brutally honest review of the past. Whether it shows us in flattering light or not.

Which brings me to the central theme of my post:

Sadly, it doesn't appear that anyone was listening. To what people would only dare whisper.

Not surprising few people heard.

It's more than poetic. It seems to me to capture the very essence of the problem.

We have established that the evidence was abundant and that we did not hear it. What is it that we must do differently if we want to hear?

I believe Chaz was remarkably insightful in some of his post. And two things attracted my attention. First, he laid responsibility elsewhere. Asking who was warning us about danger to our capital... as if it's anyone's responsibility but our own. Perhaps the question is "why weren't we on the lookout for danger", and "what was it that we were doing that prevented us from seeing it".

In my opinion that places the onus of responsibility where it belongs. On us. To listen. As it is on us to learn.

Which then led to the "nobody said" part of the message. Thus triggered my second question:

JS: But then why do opinions that surface so readily on other threads show themselves so rarely here?

UF: Probably for the same reason that the rudeness that surfaces so readily on other threads has shown itself here so rarely.

Very insightful reply. Did you mean that the same forces responsible for binding the focus to the fm are responsible for blinding us to hazards?

John.
