Lissa Morgenthaler biotech 9/25/01 3:15 PM ET One of my favorite sell-siders --- the one who forecast IMNX would be put into the S&P 500 and made his clients a LOT of money last week as a result --- chimed in today. He saw a lot of foreign accounts buying U.S. biotech stocks last week in very large chunks. Hasn't seen the mutual funds buying heavily yet, but I suspect that's a function of the fact that they came into September 11th fully invested. (Most of them are forced by their charters to be fully invested at all times, but biotech was so oversold by September 10th that even the fund I run was fully invested. And all of us were concerned about potential shareholder redemptions, though my confreres say they haven't seen many.) My sell-side whiz-friend also says that if the Bass Bros were selling HGSI last week, they weren't using Goldman et al (the gang who handled the huge DIS block). Apparently it was BofAMontgomery that sold steadily from September 17th on. (Well, full Monty, what wuz you boys up to???) long IMNX, HGSI and lotsa biotech
