If I say a "firm" or "system" is crooked I'm talking about
the top dogs , not all the people in it.

Hell years ago I use to slip onboard Russian
ships to drink and play chess with the crews.
They had to hide me from the KBG , hell most of them
( the crews ) were real regular people and dam
likeable and had as much or more distrust of their
own government as we ever had of ours.
They had a joke about work that I still remember,,
They pretend to pay us so we pretend to work !
I can't judge individuals the same way I do the
system they may be married to.
As for Russian people in general they are great
they do tend to "drink" a little to much;
however we would be just as bad if there was
nothing else to do.
Back in those days when they got shore leave it was
brief & they had to go in a group with a "political officer" over seeing them. Some stuff they could buy
but a lot was off limits.
I did my share to corrupt them by sneaking
playboy magazines onboard..one mag would get
me up to 3 bottles of vodka , or a real bear skin
hat. :-)
