Good post from Spock on yahoo thread:
The difference is we are not relying on just one property being popular or as you say "a fad". To begin with, Pokemon has transended to "a brand", or haven't you heard. That means it will continue on for years. We are nearing the release of a straight to video full length feature film. (This is where mega bucks to KDE are made.) The new bar-coded cards will be released soon. The cartoon show is still the cornerstone of the KidsWB line-up.
AND we have Cubix. We OWN Cubix. Don't have to sell nearly as much to make even more in revenue.
AND we have Yu-Gi-Oh and Tama and Friends and Cabbage Patch Kids and Monster Jam.
AND we have Technology4Kids with enough time behind us to begin some announcements of deals made and toys sold and patents applied for.
AND we have Ultraman Tiga and Kinnikuman.
AND we have satisfying relationships with Warner Bros., Nintendo, Konami, Toei, Bandai, Trendmasters, Marvel, SPX, Ubi-Soft, 3DO, Kellogg's......and the rest of the 500-700 different partners who have in the past signed contracts with KDE. And there's that small matter of $100,000,000 free cash with no debt.
If you say that KDE is worth a multiple of its cash, then we're bound to rise, not fall. on and on |
