Conflict with Europe

Washington fights the planned world court

ul. Munich - US Government has decided to support a campaign of republican congress members against the planned world tribunal. According to the information available to the Sueddetsche Zeitung a law proposal will be discussed next week, which will forbid the US authorities any co-operation with the tribunal. States, which join the court, should have their military aid cancelled; excluded are however NATO countries. Washington comes now into conflict with its European allies. The German Federal Government and its EU partners rank among the most energetic advocates of the court. An European diplomat in New York called the decision of the USA a " fist in the face of the EU". Another one said: " The biggest danger now is in delay. " The law proposal means a threat of "destruction" of the world court.

I know, US legislation is so ... frugal... Just keep your eyes peeled. SZ is a very serious newspaper, so this has a stamp "serious matter" for me.
