Terje: There was an article in one of the tech magazines a couple
of months ago regarding this point. The article stressed the fact
that the real speed improvements are reaching their limits and that
Intel's strategy is now to build the cpu's with the video and sound
peripherals as part of the cpu to get the extra efficiency. Analysts
who are following this development seem to think that once this strategy takes root, it will be the end of some of the producers of
the peripherals, such as Creative, since it could mean that their
main product, Sound Blaster, will become unnecessary. They made no
comment on their feeling as to the future of the other cpu producers
such as Cyrix & AMD but if Intel's strategy catches, then the others
will have to adapt.
