Techie, I believed so, all the big guys like Motorola, NEC, GTE, US West, Swiss Telecom, and so on... they are looking for standards, and . They learned the big time about ISDN technology for the past 12 years, this technology did not make any profits for any service provider in the world. Could you name of any service provider in the world making profits from ISDN services??? Only manufacturers vendor made those profits. I don't mean that ISDN is the old technology that we considering go to a new technology. I worked with ISDN for the past 6 years, it is not growing and I don't think ISDN is the technology of the future. ADSL is booting up because a big demand bandwidth for internet access from home. At this time, estimated about 40-45 millions are working with internet access in the world and because of that xDSL is the technology of the future, not only internet but included movie access from home, music, video phone call, multimedia applications. And only xDSL can handle all simultanously for those applications.
Back to the questions, Microsoft willing to working with anyone if they have a good products. Even their competitor like IBM. More Westell does leading only ADSL products but they will struggle in the near future because of ADSL/CAP which has no standards, they are selling their products but they recently announced that they also working with ADSL/DMT, very similar like the one from Amati. This will keep them in line but Amati is holding the patent. Who is better??
