Good rebuttals, Tunica. I actually like that idea of the Gov't financing the war with bonds better than stealing the funds from elsewhere. There should never be an excuse for fiscal irresponsibility. Also, I have for smaller government in almost all cases. Where I would like to see a beefed up government, though, is in the FBI and CIA.

Now back to our debate. I still assert that increased government spending coupled with rate reductions and tax cuts do wonders for the economy in the short term. However, in the long term, you and the WSJ are exactly right, it does come with a hangover, not the least of which is the effect of crowding out private sector spending.
