Well, I don't think Intn'l Road Dynamics is a T.IRD! (New pun...like it?) I actually believe it is one of those undervalued gems that still exists...but I also believe that shareholders and others who have watched it for a long time (myself included) are very very short on patience with this one. It has held a lot of promise for a long long time and has never delivered. They just appointed our former Finance Minister to the Board. I don't know if that means anything except that she is very savvy and connected (her hubby is also president of the university!) and may help them in some small way.

I think part of this company's problem is that it is in Saskatoon...and most $$$ people can't believe that a REAL company would be located here. They have a hard enough time with Calgary and Edmonton, let alone some third world duckburg like this. (Their opinion...not mine!) Perhaps this perception will change as the world takes notice of the light particle accelerator which is being completed here and will be drawing sceintific attention from around the world. A little prestige like that for the city may help out the businesses that are here that must overcome an outdated image of prairie cities.

That's a long answer and the upshot is that I've watched IRD for a long long time, never pulling the trigger but being awfully tempted many times. i think it's a winner; I think it's a good company; I think they have a good product in a growing market. Will the stock make money?? Probably eventually. Have I been saying that for years? Yes.

I'm a little nervous with the market right now. I liked T.UI (United International) which was just bought up because it was making money building subdivisions in Calgary, Edmonton and Canmore. I thought that it was a good way to play the Alberta boom without going directly into a commodity. I also felt comfortable at the time ( a few months back) going into real estate - something tangible - given that the sector has underperformed and the market was/is making me nervous. The market still makes me nervous although I think there's money to be made in some of the traditional type of companies again. Real estate STILL hasn't hit its cycle..and maybe it never will..but there are profits being reported out there that the market hasn't recognized. I guess the key if I'm thinking of another Alberta developer, is how much faith do I have that the Alberta boom will continue?

What are you watching, Ciao? And you, JT?

GLTUA,
Marcman
