Is NG coming from the street still in liquid form? Is there any way for a homeowner to install a tank to store this cheap NG for the winter?

I would imagine that it's not quite as simple as hooking up the propane tank to the barbeque grill. I can see it working for my stove, because that never needs to run at "full blast", but I would imagine that the hot water heater and the furnace require a more or less constant pressure.
