At the very least, the first stab a a "new world order", the League of Nations, came at a time when America was only viewed as a marginal first-rate power, much less the top of the heap. << did the 7,000 people in NY and DC deserve to be slaughtered? NO. are the perpetrators who committed the violent slaughter justified? NO. like the rapist, should they be punished? YES. were there steps we could've taken and still can take to avoid placing ourselves in harm's way from terrorists? YES >> But gee, wouldn't punishing the perpetrators be imposing our morality upon them? And what about countries that are our allies only BECAUSE we are such a close partner with them, and would turn on us if we withdrew our support? The only problem is that there's no way to fit that into your neat rape allegory.
