Hi Jack; I especially appreciate your response and hope that there may be a bit of discussion among the board involving MF versus stocks.

Please correct me if anyone feels I'm not looking at things properly.......

1. Stocks offer more return potential (if you pick a winner)...but also more risk if too many eggs are in the proverbial basket.

2. How do you pick a winning stock? Fundamentals? Technicals? Personal knowledge?

3. MF offer a broader exposure to both the risk and return of the market (but the chances of all of the companies going broke are very low.....well, except for internets...lol)

4. Sector MF can give a dummy who may see an overall trend (for example, health care because of demographics), but lacks the expertise or desire to select the best of the health care companies, a number of companies to invest in as a basket.

5. The negative is the management fee, as well as the lower return compared to the really sharp stock picker.

Any other obvious plus/minus considerations?

Regards, Bud
