MGM Mirage — 6,000 jobs: Casino operator MGM Mirage said it had cut about 6,000 jobs since the Sept. 11 attacks as slumping air travel eroded business at its properties. Las Vegas-based MGM Mirage earlier said that it expects its third-quarter earnings to be substantially below Wall Street consensus estimates, blaming disruptions from the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon building.
