Art,
I couldn't agree more.
The real problem here is that people who do not take the time to do their own due diligence are complaining that the information they read (which amounted to "XYZ says Buy ABC") was misleading. The obvious solution is the mantra "do you own research" or, barring that, take all information with a grain of salt. I have a Yahoo e-mail address which gets all sorts of "tips" on OTC stocks, none of which I read. I think everyone probably reacts to those messages in the same way. Similarly, when a company upgraded or downgraded, I think it is wise to read their reasoning, but always weigh it with a cynical bent. Plus, by the time you hear a stock was upgraded or downgraded, it's already too late to react, so there is time to make a more measured decision. Of course, the information you read on SI deserves similar skepticism!
