What makes poker fun is that your success is a matter, to a large extent (besides the luck of the draw), of how well you can fool and mislead people. Maybe the same thing is true of bridge. Imagine a game of poker played where everyone's dead honest, all cards face up. Not much fun and very little profit, unless you're playing with morons,"I know my two pair will beat his flush, just watch!"

Here's where I wonder about the relationship between game theory and ethics.While deception/manipulation is sometimes justifiable in order to achieve the good, some would argue that in the long run honesty ought to win out as the best policy. Not a fun game I'll admit. but, as those same people would argue, being a good person can't be the same as being a good manipulator.
