In addition to Ike's weekend posts that made mention of what he views as fact - that within the thousands of madrassas schools for boys, rape of the boys is common and rarely mentioned - I just read a long article about Afghanistan that certainly changes my perspective considerably.

It is written by a filmmaker. It is verbose, sometimes repetitive, but the way his dialogue wanders suggests what he is feeling: utter despair that even his words will be lost in the abyss of human hope that Afghanistan is.

Better set aside 30-45 minutes for this one. But do not miss it as it is the most complete picture of Afghanistan I've seen..... what an enormous tragedy it is ! And with its African-like tribal system, it may defy the best efforts of all the king's horses and all the king's men to be put back together again....
