EPC reading is affected by Fed meeting tomorrow. Friday was a more neutral reading. There is not much they can do. One half a point seems to be priced in. If the market does not get it, the indices are too close to the lower supports not to break through in light of revised numbers from companies that are indicating a contraction of sales.

One bright sector sold off today in lught of reduced handset sales from a Taiwanesse manufacturer.

At least biotech and drug companies are making their seasonal rally as this is the time of year a lot of conferences occur to announce results. It indicates business is returning to normal after a few difficult weeks.

Market Outlook
Caveat Emptor
By:Adam Martin
After a weak day, stocks finished with a surge, but not enough to clear the flatline. Investors are still trying to figure out what it all means, and that air of confusion was prevalent, even as taders digested the less than optimistic NAPM number. It held its ground, but just barely, in the period prior to the attack, and that was not the kind of news traders wanted to hear. Still, stocks are recovering this afternoon with the DJIA approaching opening levels. Analysts attribute last week's gains, at least in part, to end of quarter window dressing by portfolio managers, and it's back to the realities of economic uncertainty, fears of military action, and ongoing sector weakness. Traders have a lot of economic data to look forward to this week, starting with the National Purchasing Manager's Index released today. Tomorrow's meeting of the FOMC is expected to be accompanied by another half point interest rate reduction, but little reaction is expected from a stock market jaded by previous cuts, and with other concerns taking precedence at the moment. Traders continue to wait for evidence that the economy is on the rebound, and until then, there's not likely to be any sort of sustainable rally.
