I think the 'French dimension' has enriched Canada. Nowadays most Canadians - even if they are not bilingual - are proud when their children can speak a second language in a reasonably natural way.
To have two languages gives you a better perspective just as two eyes allow you to see better.
I hope Americans will feel the same way and encourage their children to speak Spanish as well as English.
Did you notice that Lucien Bouchard's parliamentary seat went liberal yesterday?
