TVI Corporation Supports Terrorism Recovery Efforts at the Pentagon

GLENN DALE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2001--TVI Corporation reported Tuesday its support of recovery efforts at the Pentagon terrorist attack site and its expected support of future Homeland Security initiatives.

The announcement was made in response to a number of inquiries from shareholders and investors.

The company reported that a number of the military, national, and local disaster response teams deployed to the Pentagon attack site were already equipped with TVI products. The company provided additional equipment to some of these and to other teams to support their Consequence Management and Recovery efforts.

Additionally, the company dispatched two personnel to the site on a daily basis to train new users, maintain the equipment, and assist the teams in any way possible.

A variety of special teams were deployed to the Pentagon site, including hazmat, search and rescue, medical, and evidence recovery. All of these teams required on-site command posts, decontamination systems, and various logistics tents. TVI has developed a family of products to support Consequence Management activities necessitated by an attack with a Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD).

These products have been accepted by leading emergency response forces, and the company expects that there will be increased demand for them as the Homeland Security program is implemented.

Allen Bender, company CEO, emphasized the company's commitment to maintaining a leadership role in these Homeland Security products. He said he was very gratified that the company and its products were able to make a contribution to the heroic efforts of the emergency and law enforcement personnel responding to the Pentagon tragedy. "We understand the urgency of the response, and the dangerous and demanding circumstances involved in a terrorist attack" he said. "We gave immediate response to every request, and we will continue to give priority to all needs of our Homeland Security program.."

Mr. Bender reported that the company had just completed delivery of a significant order of emergency response equipment to the New York City Fire Department. "We are pleased that our equipment was selected" he said. "The NYC Fire Department operates perhaps the largest and most sophisticated hazmat and emergency response agency in the country. Our product line will certainly benefit from use and evaluation by these experts."

TVI is a leading manufacturer of quick erect tents and signage, chem/bio casualty decontamination systems, and thermal targets in its 25th year of operations. Its stock trades on the OTC Bulletin Board under the symbol TVIN. More information is available at the company's website at www.tvicorp.com.
