Furthermore, we should also keep in mind that Masood was close to the Iranians and could easily switch partners and become the US's point man in Afghanistan... Of course, the fact that Masood was not Pashtun wouldn't have helped but then, the momentum of Masood's thrust toward Kabul would have been totally different were he still be alive. All the blame for the US terrorist attacks would have been put on the Taleban all the same BUT Masood would have appeared as the providential man --with the EU's backing on top of that...
