For the emini, my system has a drawdown of $3200 over the last five years and averages a net gain of about $12000 per year. It makes money on 40% of the trades, but doesn't lose much because of tight stops.

I guess your daytrading would be called "discretionary trading". I need to use systems, because I don't have the insight yet to do better. And I can test new ideas relatively quickly.

The most useful writings I have come across so far are those of Larry Williams - particularly his break-out systems.
