Possibly a good analogy. Think of how outraged you would be if your car regularly crashed a couple of times a day; if, when you had problems, the car manufacturer told you to call the gasoline company or the Dept of Roads; if you found out that the car had not been tested on twisting roads because most people drive straight ones.

That is how most software is developed.

BTW: from what I understand, and have seen, SUNW has a higher level of quality and a superior quality process than most other companies. I've heard a description of their architectural and change control process, and it is more rigorous than the industry norm.
