Skeeter, that's about the most cynical, downright hopeless things anyone has said here. Yes, recent events (and not just the terrorist attacks) are a grim reminder of how brutal and inhumane humans can be. A little while ago, I stumbled across the Bryce Report, a British report on German atrocities in Belgium at the beginning of WWI. The similarities to events in the Balkans over recent years are striking. Yet I prefer to see the relative tranquility of the post-WWII era as progress over prior centuries and millenia, interrupted by increasingly infrequent setbacks, rather than as a temporary calm in an everlasting storm of inhumanity.

JMO,
Bob
