NEWS RELEASE

Line cutting and an I.P. Survey have been initiated on the Ulanin
gold-bearing breccia/stockworks zone in the eastern portion of the Company's
Batangas Gold project ub South Luzon Island, Philippines. Fluid inclusion
studies and soil (eluvium) sampling have identified the zone being tested.
The eluvial testing has identified a mineralized area some 1,400 metres wide
and 1,400 metres long. The area is still open in all directions. Within the
area some 3,185,000 tonnes of eluvium grading 2.048 grams of gold per tonne
have been previously estimated from the results obtained from sampling of
test pits and auger holes.

In conjuction with the I.P. Survey, an augering program is being carried out
on the I.P. Survey grid to augment the previous sampling. Approximately 250
samples have been taken thus far.

Trenching in bedrock has exposed a breccia/stockworks zone across a width of
some 125 to 200 metres. Sampling in Trench I gave values that range from
0.50 gm Au/t (including 8.0 metres grading 6.00 gm Au/t).

A recent investigation by the Company into the potential for a second area
of known mineralization that may be amenable to bulk mining lead to a study,
reported on by Dorotheo B. Aligo, Mining Engineer, whereby four cross cuts
were driven underground to test the values contained in the wall rocks
between four parallel veins. Fire assaying of channel sampling of the wall
rocks gave values, which varied from 0.27 gm Au/t to 1.80 gm Au/t. The
inital area outlined measures, 50 metres wide by 200 metres long. The area
is located at the village of Bungahan, which is readily accessible by road,
and could be drilled with little preperation. It is planned to test the zone
with a few I.P. lines after the Ulanin area survey is completed.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,

DESERT SUN MINING CORP.
