Is it better for WIND to remain independent or might they look to be acquired?

TORONTO (Reuters) - Cisco Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:CSCO - news), the worlds largest maker of equipment that powers the Internet, will move into new markets this year through acquisitions, but large, public companies like Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT - news) are not a target, chief executive John Chambers said.

Chambers made the comments at a luncheon in Toronto in response to recent speculation that Cisco would take a run at Canada's Nortel Networks, now that the maker of optical gear trades at a mere shadow of its former $84 high.

``You will see us move into new markets this year with a combination of stock and cash.'' But, ``no its not in the cards for us to acquire large companies,'' said Chambers in specific reference to Nortel.

Chambers sees Cisco taking advantage of the depressed valuations of technology companies by buying eight to ten small- to medium-sized companies this year.
