Heinz, the sad think is that "the other side" is thinking this way .......... and that is why Egypt did not fully join the coalition or Saudi Arabia limited the use of their air bases.

More sad is the fact that for example Bush proclaims he is not at war against Islam and at the same time Islam is at war with the world or better said those countries who are mostly Christians. War is not always fought with armies and arms. After a bitter and prolonged war the Templars were lured in thinking that it would be safe to trade freely with the Muslim world only to be later "thrown to the dogs" in Acre and forced after heavy losses to life to retreat from Holly Lands (Lebanon, Israel and Jordan).

I see the new development as a repeat of the Crusade in reverse. At that time the Muslim were the intellectuals, scientist, the rich and culture loving, free thinkers and Christian Europe was in the "Dark Ages".

Now how you get to those riches ??????? .......... simply start a war .............. the reason religious no need for explanation .............. not to mention that various caliphates used those "barbars with the Cross" against each other.

IMHO the current war started in 1973 raising energy prices from around $3 a barrel to $40 in 1980 it is an economic war. It was sparked after a period of stall mate between the "Evil Empire" and the "Free People". I am not sure is Russia had an hand into it but they benefited handsomely from the result (keep in mind that many believers in Islam do not know even that they are actually at war but there is a rearrangement of wealth).

Now that Russia is gone the fight is more pointed ........ even more interesting is the fact that most unrest and violence was kept at the fringes of the "modern Muslim" Caliphate. East Turkey - Armenia (whose 2+ million people were massacred 80 years or so ago) ..... and now Chechnia and Russian Armenia, Kashmir, Philippines on the eastern fringes, Algiers in the western fringes, Israel who is a sour torn in the middle and Sudan Chad in Africa.

The enormity of the problem is so big that no one is willing to voice it out freely. There are slippage's from time to time and the recent horrific disaster in NYC only brought up the severity of the problem.

Contrary to what Arabs want the West to believe, ...... that it is only an Israeli Arab problem, the issue is really a confrontation between 2 quite distinct social orders Islamic / Muslim and what we call Western Civilization.

Some little details -- how will the Western World treat a man of their own if he has several wives, circumcision of his daughters against their will, or kills his wife for committing adultery ???? and there are much more subtle differences.

It is about time to get realistic we are witnessing a Crusade in reverse, trying to impose their religious believes on us (that what the Taliban do in Afganistan) ........... any infidel including Jews will be spared if he converts to Islam ...... that what the sermons on PLO TV are saying. Think why the battle cry is God Almighty but in Quran God is the Most Gracious, Most Merciful ............. And why infidels should fear God Almighty ................ It is a very tricky issue .

answering-islam.org Not sure if this story at this link is all true but worth reading

........ and lets stop at that
