The toothpaste is out of the tube, and we'd better establish aggressive nationwide civil defense.

MSI... do you understand how economically expensive and invasive it will be to rely upon civil defense to stop attacks by fanatics like Bin Laden and his ilk??

Security is a non-productive expenditure, just like insurance and other risk management products... It's expensive... and moreever, it undercuts the sense of freedom that business enjoys to be able to conduct business rapidly and efficiently without having to transition the various levels of added bureaucracy needed to apply those security measures. And worse yet,... no matter how secure you think you are, you're never secure enough since you don't know where they will strike next.

If you live in a bad neighborhood, would you rather have the cops apprehend the thugs who threatening you and causing you to live in fear, or do you turn your home into a bunker??

We don't have a police force in this world. But we all have a collective interest in preventing criminals like this from being permitted to operate on the scale that they are... And I would MUCH RATHER make them spend the majority of their time looking over their shoulders and wondering who was going to rat them out to the US, than have to go "shields up" over the entire N. American Continent...

In sum.. the best defense is a good offense..

Never play by the other guys rules, and never permit your enemy to dictate the battlefield.]

Btw, I don't advocate sending US troops to invade Afghanistan. But I do support providing the people of Afghanistan the ability to decide their future for themselves, so long as that future does not include targeting the United States or it's people.
