Tench: They are lying to you! What they are trying to snow you with is that two sections running at 2GHz equals one running at 4GHz and that is not true. Now some clock circuit may run at that speed, but the pipeline does not! Any circumlocution on your part does not make it true either! And even if it was true, then the IPC of P4 is even worse than commonly believed. The P4's performance is sorely lacking even for a 2GHz CPU, much less a 4GHz one. Those designer pals of yours should hang their heads in shame, either way! Pete
