CJ, if this were an episode of a TV crime drama the authors would probably be severely tempted into writing an ending where the killer was Suzanne's secret source for her thesis on Bin Laden, or perhaps even an Islamic classmate who considered her thesis to be blasphemy. However, in real life, both scenarios are essentially baseless.

It seems at this point that the killer(s) were likely not from the city of New Haven because someone would have had loose lips by now. Given the grand jury finding that the New Haven police withheld material information about a murder from the North Haven police I'd say it reasonable to conclude that police forces around here are still quite territorial. In other words, towns don't much like it when other towns get the glory for solving their crimes.

One thing I'm hoping to gain from the FOI request is to see just how much the New Haven police sought outside help. As I've been saying over and over, it may not be a case of the right people not talking, but of the police not asking questions of the right people.
