Geez, when I read stuff like that, I think about all the politicians who endlessly invoke, "...for our children's future...," in support of so many knee-jerk, poorly-conceived policies with little consideration of their effects, and I wonder to myself whether the children will ever understand or appreciate any of this. So many of us don't exhibit any appreciation of what our parents did for us and the world in defeating Nazism, Fascism, and Communism, and they paid a much higher price in their own blood and discomfort than is asked of us. Maybe the next generation isn't worth it after all, but through no fault of their own -- we only have ourselves to blame for making things seem too easy and comfortable, with no price to pay. It's true that freedom isn't free, but many don't know that yet.
