Elected to four terms, so Americans at the time seemed to like him I never expressed any doubt that he was popular. Led us, successfully, through the second world war, Truman dotting the i's and crossing the t's, no mean feat. I think he did a pretty good job here but its a stretch to say that what he did amounts to saving our ass. Acted upon Hoover's apparent benign neglect of the economy and it victims in his efforts to rescue us from the depression. The depression continued for a long time after FDR entered office. It wasn't going to last forever, why would you say he got us out any quicker then anyone else would have. The twisting of the constitution and the expansion of the federal government IMO are long term negatives. Tim
