My suggestion is that short sales not be allowed to have any margin. 100% covered. if you short at 5 and it goes to 5.10, that night you have to come up with the difference. if you don't, they cover for you, to bring you into compliance.

I'm not trying to make it easier, I want it to be more difficult..
Maybe even be required to have the short positions in a separate account entirely, to make things simpler to follow..
unfair? too burdensome? oh well, so sorry.

Shorters have the privilige of creating shares when they short. For that privilige things should be more difficult for them.
