I MUCH prefer to let the markets work in the ways that have made this country so great. This would imply that it is unAmerican to borrow anything (how many of us would even own our own houses if we couldn't borrow most of the money needed to buy them??!!!).
One of those things that sounds intuitively obvious to the naive and uninformed. Hope the same people who are promoting it could also adhere to something along the lines of..."IF you already own it, then you CAN'T sell it!" Sorry, am willing to die to defend our basic freedoms, whether they are attacked from without or within.
Can you tell I feel VERY strongly about this? See you this week!

No I willnot stop ... I am just getting started ... authoring letters to congress and the senate to try and get them to address this nonsense of naked shorting and off shore short selling. Apparently you have not read the petition. I am not after stopping LEGAL shorting on margin just transparency with checks and balances. Temprary halting certain shorting selling until proper safe guards can be put into place.
If you are coming to see me ... why would you do that I do nto know you?

Why would I be coming to see you? YOU are attempting to stop a FREEDOM that I, and others have. I have NEVER shorted a specific stock...BUT, I have 'shorted the market' over the last 2 years...don't you wish YOU had???!!!!
Fortunately, I DO have access, and the ear, of a number of people who DO make these types of decisions. I am also fortunate that some seek out my opinion....my personal hope is that they listen to GOOD reason and GOOD experience. In this case, it would be my view as opposed to yours.

Gary, Seriously, could you PLEASE illuminate me on the relevant differences between acquiring a 'naked' short position vs. a 'naked' buy position? Especially illuminating would be 1) the relevance of whether either were carried out by a 'foreign' source vs. an 'American' one; 2) why it should apply to just stock, or their derivatives (say as in comparison to any other asset, like a house); and 3) and how a 'naked' short sale differs from someone selling a LONG interest in stock that has almost NO realistic chance of ending up being worth anything, as in so many of the IPOs done in recent (and past) years. Personally, I think MANY MORE legislative efforts should be made towards the "transparency with checks and balances", along with LOTS more personal liability, of some of the common sense fraud commited against so many investors. Thank goodness, I KNOW some has already been done AND much
more WILL be done along THOSE lines!

This is our first set of personal interactions. I apologize for my strong response, but having spent over 25 years as a finance professional (no, NOT as a trader, but in corporate finance, advisory and a personal investor), I've learned a few things....I'll forward you something I got recently....from Andy Rooney of all people!....both my parents are Americans, mostly English and German descent (not that it really matters...my wife is 1/2 Jamaican and 1/2 English, but 100% US citizen now!), BUT I have lived and travelled quite widely throughout the world. The only continent I have not visited is Antartica.
I respect and admire your ultimate objectives, at least as I see them.
Let's put our efforts into dealing with the ones that CLEARLY violated our, and humanity's, laws rather than creating confusion/diversion of effort/resourses. AND, I ALWAYS respect someone who is actually doing the work to get things done. Care to help me rebuild some broken financial systems (what I've been working on for the last 5 years).....and make a couple of $mil. in the process??? I'm pretty sure I know how if you care to learn.

How much credence do you think ANY petition of yours would get anywhere, much less in D.C., if you were charged or convicted of maliciously spreading email viruses. Here's the text body of one of the emails I got...the other has some particularly interesting routing sequences, (Ooops, VERY clear AND unfortunately used some equipment and legal entities that are already VERY interested!)....I thought this one was clear enough on it's face, but apparently the other one triggered some interest in other matters that have a MUCH higher priority and response time.
BTW, a U.S. Congressman already has a complete set of our direct correspondence (and this one will be added once I send it); Others insisted on taking those like these.
No, not only did the original emails NOT get to me (a live human being called to tell me they had been sent, asking if I wanted to be personally involved in dealing with it), but even the sterilized versions I got set off more warnings than I've ever seen before.
Your right to free speach and promoting your petition are unquestioned.
Sorry, but I thought you were trying to uphold our laws, not break them. Doesn't look like you believe others should have the same rights as you!!! hmmmmmmmmmm

The call I got came from a 847 area code (love caller ID)and it was this emailer putting the threat into words for me to stop. When I tried to get him to nail it down specifically to stop what He told me I knew what was talking about. I did not have a clue and he mentioned a virus that he got from ME!!! So I went to the computer and have been carefully researching it. What I am posting is the results. He does not know what I did over the weekend. LOL ... so while checking my EMAIL after the call I got this One!
Gary, This must be where you got that I said I was coming to see you. In fact, it is a copy of an email I sent to a friend that is coming to see ME later this week. Now I see what you might have been referring to, but that part was written to someone else and then copied into what I was sending to you.
I am taking my time to hopefully stop a circle which might cause problems. It is my personal style to usually take a stab at that first. What I do afterwards depends of what happens in between.
I hope you continue to exercise your freedom of speech, and hope you respect mine. Let's respect our differences of opinion and leave it there. Fair enough?
I have not opened any attachments so I am not sure what they say ... I have searched my system and have my ISP checking for viruses and I have cleaned my system, I hope. I have copied everything to disc and I have hard copies of everything PLUS I am making this post.
I guess they are getting desperate to stop this petition and framing me is part of it but I was framed on Midland and other evils I have blown the whistle on and just because someone wants to frame me I have faith in the FBI and our legal system as they nailed the real evil ... BUT JUST IN CASE I AM MAKING THIS PART OF PUBLIC RECORD!
