You can use the "a" word Rory, there are others of us out here <g>. Guess I should have jumped in a foxhole when I was younger <g>. I am quite content with the notion that I will cease to exist someday, and this does not lessen my enjoyment of life to any degree. Doesn't mean I look forward to dying, or that I don't have any fear of death, I simply don't see anything on the other side, and that doesn't bother me. And yes, atheists can be patriotic and be proud to be Americans, and many of us probably have ethics and moral codes which we uphold as strongly as those of you who have religion for your guidance. In many ways its hard for us because we don't have the comfort of an afterlife or the reassurances of religion to help us through the unthinkable sadness that life sometimes deals our way. I think kb has a good suggestion to change the subject, however, although it appears a lot of us can't resist a comment or two. Maybe we can just post our thoughts and agree not to respond beyond that. A civilized discussion on religion, now that would be a first <g>. Night all and good luck tomorrow... Alex
