Market Outlook
When the Rates Come Tumbling Down

Stocks finished high today as traders took inspiration from the Fed's rate cut of half a point, and the DJIA finished more than a hundred points in to positive territory, and the Nasdaq closer to flatline but still in the green. The Fed cited ongoing uncertainty and fears of military action, the very fears cited by analysts, as reasons for the additional rate decrease, using fairly strong language to describe the economy. Analysts are fairly certain that inflation remains a peripheral concern, and there is on going pressure to spark the flagging economy, further bruised by fallout from the attacks as consumers' fears are heightened, and no one really knows what the long-term effects will be. For now, traders are heartened by the Fed's commitment to do its part to keep the economy on track.
