I don't have any dealings with Fidelity. I'll chekc my Colonial First State (Aussie Fudn Manager) stuff. They are very clear that each fund has rules that can't be broken but that leaves a lot of room for quite a few things. But any money they make on the stock and funds held has to be booked to the fund. They then take their profit in the management fees. I don't think they can do what you are suggesting.
