Kap: Hans went of the deep end with this article. Looking at patents is not a good way to predict a computer architecture. Patents don't say which core generation they are used for, or if they are used at all for that matter.

That's certainly correct [patents not being a very good way of predicting a computer architecture], however I suspect that Hans has other... resources at his disposal. As Andreas suggested, perhaps he has had a sneak peak at this(?) month's µP Forum slides, where AMD is scheduled to talk about the Hammer architecture.
