You may be right. However, in my book the universality of suffering is true for all people. Religion-specific dogma is necessarily not a universal POV, and if you are trying to show emotional solidarity, then one needs to be cognizant of such sensibilities. I can't think of any culture where people celebrate the actual death of a loved one through accident or act of war. Of course, I could be wrong - but I don't think in my case, I'd be glad to have an angel I know by first name.
