The main thing is that such speculation is untimely, and any firm assertion, barring a prophetic commission, is arrogant. But also, let's be clear: either one is committed to a pluralistic society, and the separation of church and state, or not. Anything that suggests that liberal democracy is the ultimate cause of losing God's favor is bound to be controversial, and one should be careful to clarify one's meaning if such is not intended.......
